hey man sorry for the late answer! always forget to answer these question cause i read them when i don’t have time to answer. but now i will try to help you! dont really understand what you mean with spit shading but heres some tips..

always try to paint with a lot of paint and water in your brushes.

this is how i do. i have two brushes, one stiff brush how have good accuracy wich i lay down the color with and one smoother brush who can hold a lot of water.

first you take the color brush and load it with a lot of paint. lay down the color on the paper and don’t be afraid do lay down a lot of paint cause the more color on the paper the better blend you will get.

then i take my water brush. dip it in the water, then dip it on to a paper towel to relieve little bit of water and make some space for the color. then you grab the color and just drag out to where you want the blend to be.

its kind of hard for me to try explain how i do but i will try to make a vid tutorial for all you who wonder how i do my watercolor paintings.
